Oni Hagi-yaki Yunomi Teacup

This type of glaze originated when Korean potters settled in Hagi, Yamaguchi prefecture, Japan. The white style of Hagi ware known as Oni Hagi-yaki (demon glaze) was developed by the Miwa family, one of the most highly regarded potting families in Japan.

This cup has a white glaze with a blue tint. The crackle of the glaze is smooth in some areas and more defined in others. You can see the characteristic Hagi-ware cut foot at the base. This style of ceramic was originally brought over to Japan from Korea in the 1600s.

The cup comes in a signed wooden gift box.
